Still Wakes the Deep[]
Still Wakes the Deep is a psychological horror video game developed by Scottish video game development studio The Chinese Room. Set against the stark backdrop of the North Sea in 1975, the narrative centers around Cameron "Caz" McLeary, an electrician working on an offshore oil rig. However, the tranquility of the isolated rig is shattered when a mysterious accident plunges the platform into chaos and horror, unleashing unforeseen terrors upon its workers.
Plot[]
The game unfolds amidst the harsh environment of the North Sea, with the Beira D oil rig becoming visible through the rain and fog. Caz reads an emotional letter from his wife Suze, where she expresses her and her children's desire for him to return home. He then heads for breakfast at the Canteen before being called to Davey Rennick's office. Rennick accuses Caz of being a liability, and references the police. A call from the drill team interrupts their conversation, but Rennick orders the team to commence drilling despite concerns. Rennick fires Caz and demands he leave the rig - while attempting to comply the drill team hit 'something" and the rig is thrown into disarray. Caz and several other men are thrown into the ocean. While Caz is rescued he drifts in and out of consciousness, experiencing a flashback where Roy explains to Suze their decision to take the job on the oil rig as a means of laying low from the police.
Back on the rig, Caz drifts is tended by Douglas and Brodie. As they pass by the Lifeboats, screams of agony can be heard in the background inside the dive bell. Caz awakes in the first aid room and heads outside to help Brodie raise the Dive Bell that Raffs is trapped in. Brodie reveals that they weren't able to rescue Gregor. Brodie sends Caz to Engineering, telling him to go through the Under Rig. When Caz reaches beneath the rig he discovers the first evidence of the Shape in the form of a strange blue light.
